Description
Things weren’t too good way up North,
The problem was large and growing,
It threatened all the Polar Bears,
The rubbish that people were throwing.
The air, the land, the water too,
Suffered from man-made waste,
A food supply for all the bears
Was needed in great haste.
This amusing, off the wall children’s story has a deeper message of conservation and the effect of climate change on the Arctic Polar Bears. Delivered in rhyme with a touch of silliness it is the ideal portal for a deeper discussion on how every individual’s efforts can change the fate of all wild animals and save them from extinction. Watch Mike read this wonderful book here and notice all the follow up opportunities there for the curious child. such as
1.Find all the countries which sent food and mark them on a world map,
2.Mark on the map where Polar bears live,
3.Make the vegetable soup with measuring and cooking skills being practiced,
4.Learn more about the plight of Polar bears and their habitat
This book is A4 sizing with full colour, hand painted graphics and as children turn each page they will be amused by the antics of the Polar Bears as they struggle to prepare new but nutritious food in an effort to stave off extinction.

“I have 6 grandkids ranging from 5 to newborn.
A delightful story that my 5 yr old grandson would thoroughly appreciate, due to his analytical thinking and bears are big and scary and right up his alley. My 2 4yr old grand daughters would enjoy the rhyming (generator and potatoes made me chuckle )
The artwork is just lovely with “kiwi” references.
Cool activities to go along with the theme.
(I’m craving salmon fish cakes now, not soup but I “get it” )
I love kiwi book authors !! Wouldn’t hesitate to put this book into every early childhood/ primary school library or at home. ” Julie Magee
